In an abusive patriarchal society, women bear the brunt of many forms of oppression, particularly in straight-passing relationships. This is a page about, feminism, abuse, recovery, and how patriarchal attitudes contribute to trauma and oppression of vulnerable groups.
This is a page about building more equitable and supportive communities. It just happens to be that my primary audience is abuse survivors. I believe you’ll find relevant content here no matter who you are.

Why should I subscribe, and what will I get?
I treat my Substack as a sort of research magazine, with different sections and topics. I want readers to get a ton of value as accessibly as possible, so I offer most of my work for free with the option to donate.
Paid subscribers support my work and get access to the completely private, moderated _____ group, where I often answer personal questions for a smaller audience. If you subscribe, please check your email for instructions on how to join.
Scholarship
I offer free, no-questions-asked scholarships to anyone other than cisgender men who cannot afford to pay. Simply message me stating that you are seeking a scholarship. There is no need to provide proof or explain your financial situation.
If you can afford to pay, I hope you will. Your payment funds my work, and funds scholarships for people who can’t pay.
Who is Veronica Wren?
I've been a professional writer for over 10 years. I’ve focused much of my work on mental health, and on investigating abuse and abusive systems.
I have a varied academic and early-career background. Most of my academic training is in social justice, legal systems, mental health, and gender studies.
These experiences heavily influence the feminist activism and writing I do now.
