If you’ve followed my writing at all, you’ll know why I don’t speak about it to many people in my personal life.
It’s a bit tough to casually work in that you write about your years of horrific abuse, even when it’s in the name of personal healing and women’s health research.
Building supportive communities is tough when navigating safety, trust, and the many frustrations of writing and promotion under a pen name. That’s why I’m thrilled to be speaking on just this topic at Medium Day 2026!
Join us Monday, Sept. 18 from 10–11 ET for a community discussion on The Stories You Almost Didn’t Tell.
Medium Day is a free, day-long virtual expo for writers, readers, and anyone curious about ideas. Every year, thousands of people from around the world come together to learn, connect, and leave with something they didn’t expect.
Our past isn’t finished with us. Dormant stories can be resurrected through journals, photographs, poetry, essays, and reflection.
In this interactive community meetup, I’ll be with three other inspiring panelists sharing useful prompts, exercises, activities, and methods for exploring buried memories:
- Danica Baptiste: writer focused on self-discovery, reinvention, and travel
- Celine Hosea: top writer in feminism and love
- Ebony Walden: multifaceted creator focused on travel and transformation
We’ll engage in guided conversation around our own storytelling practices, creative prompts, and memory-making rituals before moving into a short exercise designed to uncover stories waiting to be told.
We look forward to closing with space for reflection, further connection, and collective storytelling.
