For the grassroots activist who sometimes needs a moment outside
If they want to take our education, they'll have to try harder than that. What they can never understand (and the reason they’ll ultimately fail) is that we are a community. We protect one another.
They want to prevent us from organizing? Unfortunately for them, my contributions to the resistance are reading a bunch and being organized as hell.
Something I find beautiful about book clubs is the space and opportunity to informally share insightful new ideas about things we value. There are countless incredible, intersectional accounts of activism, art, and experiences out there; and I intend to share them in a new resistance reading community.
I’ll highlight 2 books in my free Substack newsletter each month: one fiction and one nonfiction. I may also share curated reading lists by community request.
These may be what I’m currently reading, or just great reads I find topical/important. Maybe there will be some books you wouldn't have otherwise picked up; which is amazing. I’d love to hear how your own experiences shaped your review, as well as recommendations on what I should read next.
Want to read ahead?
Those who want to dive deeper can join us in the Read It & Weed discussion community. I’ll be sharing prompts, quotes I loved, recommendations for further reading, and thoughts on each topic. I encourage you to jump in with your own comments!
Don’t have time to commit to a full book? You’re still invited to the group chat! The point is feeling connected to others in this time of massive worry and anger.
We're all busy as hell and the world has gone mad. That’s why there’s intentionally no monthly subscription fee. Who needs that extra pressure?
Read what you want, when you have time and bandwidth. Hop in and out of the conversation. It’s a cozy evening in with loved ones.
For a limited time, new paid subscribers to Hide & Speak will receive lifetime access to the discussion community on Notion, including instant updates and commenting access.
Access will also be available for a flat fee in my shop. Did I mention paid subscribers and founders will also receive a discount on my brand-new merch?
Part of the fun is that there's so much more to come. Be sure to check back as updates on books, reviews, and new features are added.
