When I decided to write about the many ways rock climbing has aided in my CPTSD recovery, I hoped it would resonate with those who’ve been through similar struggles.
Little did I know my most recent article would end up reaching a wider audience than I could have anticipated.
Chalk therapy: Overcoming trauma symptoms through climbing
This morning, I was beyond stoked to discover that my recent post on the mental health benefits of climbing was selected for a Boost by Invisible Illness, the largest mental health publication on Medium!

Moving on up: Getting over the crux
I first began blogging about my adventures in mental health recovery in the hopes of rediscovering the voice that was silenced during my period of abuse.
I’d been writing privately for over a decade, but it wasn’t until this past year that I discovered the healing and sense of community that could come from sharing my experiences publicly. Since then, I’ve been amazed to see my articles Boosted twice on Medium and selected as Top Story on Vocal a whopping five times!
As an abuse survivor who’s spent years having my experiences dismissed and invalidated, I can’t tell you how much it’s worth to me to have my experience heard. To my incredible readers and supporters, your ongoing encouragement means more to me than I can express.
Breaking the beta: Sending endless gratitude
I’m indescribably grateful to the Invisible Illness editors for their recognition and support. This publication has given historically unheard voices like mine a safe place and a sense of belonging.
This latest Boost has motivated me to keep sharing my story and explore new ways to support and encourage others on their paths to healing.
I’m excited to continue writing and sharing insights on mental health, trauma recovery, and the therapeutic benefits of activities like rock climbing. I hope to inspire and empower others to find activities that bring them joy, empowerment, and a sense of connection.
Stay tuned for more reflections and insights on the climb toward a healthier mind.
